About the Festival:
The 2019 World Schools Festival will be played at Paul Roos Gymnasium in Stellenbosch.
A town rich in rugby history, but also South Africa’s wine and gourmet capital as well as being its second oldest town. There is nothing old about Stellenbosch, it has a vibrant, youthful culture thanks to the University, some of the world’s top wines, delicious local food and lots for the whole family to experience. This reputation for gourmet excellence will be on full display at the World Schools Festival with food outlets, bars and kids activities. Building on the fantastic inaugural Festival in 2018, rugby fans will enjoy the very best schoolboy players in the world.
The Festival format was established to create the best annual gathering of schoolboy rugby talent in the world, with 10 schools in South Africa invited to join “TEAM SA” to play against 10 teams from across the globe as “TEAM REST of the WORLD”.
How it works:
The Festival has 5 matches on 4 days this March, the Round 1 will be on Tuesday 26th, Round 2 Wednesday 27th, Round 3 Friday 29th and Round 4 on Saturday 30th. Each team plays 2 matches, the WSF is played over 4 days with 5 matches each day. Each match is worth 2 points to the winning side for their “TEAM”. The Saturday will also feature many Old Boys matches with teams from Paul Roos, Grey College, Paarl Gym, Affies and Paarl Boys’ High School already confirmed.
